Distance different between Basecamp and Sat Nav!

Hi. I'm baffled - I've created a couple of routes in basecamp and transferred them to my Zumo 660. In both cases the mileage shown on the 660 is longer than that shown in Base Camp. Baffled! Any ideas most welcome. Thanks

I've answered this in the zumo forum where you posted it, but how much different? View the routes in BaseCamp to see if they really are identical.

A 47 mile route on Basecamp comes out as 52 miles on the Zumo 660. Route developed on Basecamp and then sent to the Zumo. Surely it should be identical?

You'd like to think so but occasionally there are differences due to slightly different routing algorithms between the two, it's always advisable to check the route once it's imported using BaseCamp to see if there are any discrepancies.

I am certainly not an expert, but do the map datums match between your device and basecamp? Even then I am not sure if it would matter that much. But it might.

Did you ever find a solution to this or did it ever cause any navigating issues? Finding the same on my 660.
