What GPS? You can't delete waypoints using BaseCamp on automobile ones, just handhelds.
It's an Etrex 30
That's strange then. Having deleted them when you select the Etrex in BaseCamp they don't show, but if you disconnect then reconnect they appear again?
Do you close BaseCamp in-between as well?
Yes they don't show and if I disconnect then reconnect they appear again, I closed Basecamp in-between but the waypoints are still there
Are they perhaps included in routes that remain on your GPS? I can't think of any other reason why that would happen.
If not what do you see when you look in the GPX folder on your Etrex? If there are gpx files there try deleting them manually.
Hi, i don't use routes only way points, yes GPX files, i think i will have to go manually thru the GPX files, btw when I'm on the field and i mark a way point it will always be stored in "Internal Storage", is it possible to change this to "User Data" so way point is stored in "User Data" ?
No, but if you're seeing User data you must have a sd card inserted, so check there for stray gpx files.
Hi jcc1970,
I have a similar problem with my GPSmap 62s and Basecamp. When I connect to the Basecamp I get a message saying there is a problem with a particular track. I close the two error windows and I'm able to work on Basecamp OK. I've found the file manually through Windows Explorer and I delete it but when I restart Basecamp I get the same message and the file has re-appeared in the internal storage on the unit. I have tried simply deleting the track on the unit without connecting to Basecamp but when I press delete or any of the other options, nothing happens. It's as if the file is 'locked' and can't be accessed.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Again, check for any stray gpx files. If it were me I'd copy all the gpx files off the device, then check all is clear to confirm it is an issue with a gpx file. Then add them back either from BaseCamp, which should resolve it, or one at a time until you find the offending file.
Yep, that worked! I copied all the files in Garmin/GPX from the internal memory on the unit onto the desktop. I then deleted all of the files in Garmin/GPX. I deleted what was being flagged as the offending file from the desktop, copied the rest back to the unit and the problem hasn't reoccurred. Thanks SUSSAMB
