names of routes and related files:

I can create a route in basecamp and name it and then verify this is the same name in the generated gpx file code using edit pad. However when I export the route to the gps and look at the gpx files using windows explorer in the gps memory there is a different name eg route0 route1 etc.When there are many routes in the memory it is difficult to remember what was route0 etc.Why is this because the route listing when using the GPS showsthe correct file name and not just route0 etc.

It seems to be possible to rename in explorer the memory name back to the gpx file name but this is a pain.

Why is this happening?

That's just the way it is, for the same reason waypoints are sent as temp.gpx

Why worry though? You'll only see that when you look in Explorer, both BC and your device will show the same name.

Yes I can overcome the anonymity of the names by connecting the gps to the pc and then reading the real file/route name in edit pad. However if you have hundreds of routes you need to have an ordered system of storage and this is made harder by the fact that file names in the gps memory do no have the same name as on BC or explorer. Surely it's only a matter of a small software mod to display the real name? That's what I'm getting at.

Maybe, but development of BC has ended, it is what it is
