What you are looking at in Basecamp is most likely the global base map. The base map does not have the level of detail the regular mapsets have and is not routeable.
As you have discovered you can access your mapset by connecting your Zumo to your computer or better yet is to download a copy of your mapset from the Garmin servers using Garmin Express.
