Custom Route Confusion

I'm so confused..
I plan a route from Point Arizona to Wisconsin... I want to take the exact route that I have mapped out.. Driving on the Roads that I have Chosen. When I go into trip planner... I have to choose my next destination.. If I choose the end.. it chooses it's own route to my final destination, so that doesn't work. Sometimes when I am on the Road... I go off the route if I see something interesting, then I want to get back on my route, but I have to choose "next Destination" .. What If i don't remember which destination is next? This SCREWS ME up every time! There has to be an easier way? What Am I doing wrong.
Or say... at the end of my day, I have to go off of my route to find a hotel.. The next morning, when i turn on my gps, and try to go into trip planner and resume my route, it asks me to choose my destination? I DON'T KNOW.. can't it just take me to my PINK ROAD and continue on my way?

Does anyone understand what I am trying to say?
I'm not very hopeful, I just got off the phone with support.. And apparently this is how it works? Say it isn't so??

Thanks,
Terri

  • Trip planner is designed so you can start the trip at any point in the trip. Whichever one you select you'll be taken there first, then it'll follow the route from that point. Clearly if you select the end point it'll ignore your route and calculate it's it's own route to that point. If you want to travel the whole route select the first point.

If you go off route as you describe then just let it keep going, as it will always try to get you back on route. If you switch it off then yes, you'll need to restart it. That's why in BaseCamp I create individual routes if it's a multi-day trip, far easier to manage.
