We have our version numbers set already for future releases. But it is something I can bring up. I don't think that it will change.

I figured so much. Foremost, "versioning has to work internally." ~ There are just so many out there who won't use Basecamp. (Lots of threads on this forum with negative comments that are not well explained/justified IMO!) I don't get it!!
(All I can think of is it's actually them who "don't get it", or they "haven't tried it" in the past few years. ~ Or possibly it's far better suited for "In the Woods" usage and I just don't use it for highway/trips aka "On the Road?")

~Truth is, the best part of the "Garmin GPS Experience" (the way I use a GPS in the woods) is not even using the unit as per say. ~ It's working/planning/editing the data in Basecamp "afterwards."

TRAKBAK, are you still seeing your data loss issue? We believe we have it fixed but we would like to make sure. It is hard to prove.

I will run some tests over the next few days. (I don't want to give you a wrong answer, and I know this is a "tough one" to diagnose!)
One of the things I had done to alleviate the problem (in the interim) was to duplicate all data before making any edits whatsoever & returning all edited tracks to the microSD on the unit, so that nothing was being "overwritten", no "over-writing", and no data making "round-trips from and back to the unit...... (I was "forced" to follow a very methodical data management strategy with v.4.2.4, which seemed to have been working.) And since then I haven't been moving data around a lot & rearranging things as frequently as I had been either.)

If it was the "auto-backup" routine causing problems, that actually sounds logical. Because the last time I "lost nearly all the track data" It appeared to have been lost in "one swoop", all tracks affected at the same time.

I haven't lost any new track data recently, but honestly I had attributed this (for several weeks) due to both the above, AND the result of not currently performing a much data manipulation etc. It is worth noting that the system I have been using is a "blisteringly fast notebook", with a high speed, high capacity SSD. It's fairly new, and has been ROCK SOLID since day #1. (I'm adding this FYI because there's no way the problem can be attributed to an "over-tasked" or "dirty" system)....

I just thought of something.... I have another system (an older Lenovo T61p) with and older version of Basecamp. (It's the exact same image of windows that this replacement system was imaged from/to this past spring. It still has the older version of Basecamp, with much of the older data! ~ It even has several versions of Basecamp still installed, including the 4.2? beta!!!!!) I will take a look at that, and see if the time and altitude data had already been lost on that system. (It contains much of the same data prior to that which I created/recorded in 2013.) What was the version that the auto-backup may have effected the data?

Just installed this and still the search pop up at cursor location. Please, please give us the option to turn that off. It is one of the most often heard complaints amongst the Garmin users I know. It covers too much of what you're looking at. PLEASE???!!

We have a case open for this. 4.2.5 was a critical bug fix release. We are indeed aware that there are users frustrated with the search from here boxes. This will be changed in a future release.

...... This will be changed in a future release.

Hopefully not TOO far in the future!;)
I'd say it is without a doubt the most irritating thing visually that BC does.

It is scheduled for 4.3 but it might get moved out. And the 4.3 release date is in flux at the moment. But please be patient. It is in the works.

AS an Xp user I would really like to see the the search pop up removed from 4.2 versions surly this is a very minor code alteration as I am unlikely to be getting a new computer which would be needed to run 4.3 My 10 year old Dell still does all I need .
