Copy file structure when transfering routes

I have two computers on a home network. I generally create routes on computer A. The file structure is a folder (Motorcycle Routes) containing separate lists for each route. I have it structured this way so that I can display either all routes at the same time, or any individual route separately. I'd like to be able to copy this entire file structure from Computer A to Computer B but have not been able to find a way to do so. It's easy to transfer the routes from A to B, but when doing so I lose the file structure.

Is there a way to keep the file structure when transferring routes, other than exporting them one at a time? Or is there a way to display a grouping of routes or to display those routes separately, other than having routes sorted into individual lists?
  • Copy AllData.gdb and FolderData.gfi from one PC to the other. The exact location of those files depends on the OS you're using so just do a search to locate them.

Or, If both computers use same operating system, backup Base Camp first, copy backup file to second machine, than run restore Basecamp with that file. You will get a perfect clone of the first. You will loose all data that was on the second machine. Waypoints, routes, tracks,BirdsEye images will be overwritten . Maps will not be effected.
  • That works too but the advantage of copying the files is that you can set any back up program you have to do that automatically for you in future. Doing a backup then restore means you have to remember to do it.

Right, I use backup and restore only first time to setup BaseCamp on a new computer. As long as win 7 to win 10 operating system is involved. Win xp will not work because it is using old version of B.C. and backup file is not compatible.

Copying those two files worked nicely. Thank you for posting that information. I did get one error message from the Basecamp install that I copied the two new files into when I first opened it after copying the files:

Cannot load the following areas: BirdsEye Imagery
    WARNING: Data could be lost.
Do you want to attempt to fix the data?
    FIX CANCEL

I chose FIX, the program opened and seems to act normally. Is that error message a problem, or can I just continue to choose FIX when it appears and not have some bigger issue?

I would like to note that obviously when copying the indicated files to another install of Basecamp, all user routes, waypoints and etc. in the receiving install will be overwritten - so any unique data is lost (which in my case was not a problem).
  • Should be fine, although I've not played with BirdsEye for a while

It is due to links to BirdsEye Imagery cache in AllData.gdb. You can see this links in a text editor. You must copy folder JnxFiles (near Database folder) for use cached JNX if you need in JNX without connected device.
