Birdseye Select Device Installation Problem

Recently I decided to add to my 4 year old Birdseye select 4,500 km2.
I subscribed to another 3,000 km2 (now half the price of 4 years ago) to extend coverage and to "patch in" areas of change (new paths and housing estates etc).
I'm using Basecamp 4.6.2, Windows 8.1 & Oregon 650 (SW 5.30)
I set the "Draw order" for the original Birdseye file to 80, and the new "patches" to 90.
I "Sent" the new files to the 650 "Internal Storage".
The following was observed after installation:
(a) In Basecamp with Oregon 650 connected & "Internal Storage" selected, new "Patched In" areas overlay Ok
(b) With standalone Basecamp and "My Collection" selected, new "Patched In" areas overlay Ok
(c) With standalone Oregon 650, only the original birdseye data is visible (even though the newer data is installed). Garmin could not give a reason, nor a fix for this problem. It was to be reported.

At the moment I feel a bit cheated having paid for updated mapping that can't be accessed "on the trail"

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with a 650 (or any other device), or if maybe someone has a solution.
