Waypoints not showing in favourites on device, but shows in "user data" in base camp:

Had a perculiar situation. I created a waypoint in basecamp (4.7) and sent it to my garmin zumo 660 device. In basecamp the device is connected and it shows a folder called "user data" where my new waypoint appears.

I disconnect the device and the new waypoint fails to show in the favourites.

I go to "import data" on the device and the new waypoint does not show up as an option to import.

Is there a maximum limit that I may have reached and that is why it is not showing up on the device?

  • Well there is a limit on all devices but not sure what it is on the Zumo, possibly 1000? How many points do you have?

No, way less than that. Maybe a couple of hundred.

When I use basecamp on my PC I can see the item - in this case a pub called "horton inn" - in the connected device, in folder called user data.

If I look in the memory card on the device I can see the xml entry in this file:

    "G:\Garmin\gpx\waypoints23.gpx"

When I disconnect my device, and then power it up, and then go to "import data", it does not appear in favourites to import.

If I delete the item from the device using basecamp and device folder user data, and then paste it back in again from my "cafes and landmarks" list, then I can see it has deleted the item from the file waypoints23.gpx and created a new file called waypoints24.gpx containing just the single item "horton inn".

I then disconnect the device from the pc and power it up and it then auto prompts me to import user data, and that includes the "horton inn" item.

However, if I do not choose to import it on power up, then it never gives me the option again for that item when I go into import data manually.

It's as if it cannot find it a second time.....

  • Try placing it in the GPX folder on your device.
