I have purchased Dezl 770's for our fleet and need to install maps into BaseCamp so I can plan routing in advance of uploading to each 770. Do I have to purchase a map package?
Sorry but if you've done it correctly it will work. Note the first time BaseCamp has to index the map and you'll see a green line slowly extending under the map where it's shown in the left hand pane. Once it completes BaseCamp can access the map.
Note too that like Garmin GPS the card must be formatted FAT32.
Ok went back to basics. Formatted flash drive to FAT32. Created folder on flash drive (Garmin) copied gmapprom.img to Gramin folder. Same error code. Doesn't matter if you connect the flash drive and then open BC or visa versa. Does not index just throws the code. Had to change the drive letter to get system to recognize the flash drive. everything being recognized just doesn't like it.
Hmmm ... My only other thought is that maybe the error in the map is the issue. I've not had to use this technique for that map. Guess you'll need to wait and see if the next update resolves the issue.
Why would this work? A Garmin map is locked to either the device or the card serial number. The map cannot simply be copied to another card and expected to be read on anything unless it is unlocked
It works because BC doesn't mind ... and will work on a virtual device as well as you indicate. In any case as BC isn't reading the map off the device either it seems on this occasion it's a map issue as the OP has now uninstalled and reinstalled BC.
I have updated maps 2019.2 to device and computer on my Zumo 390 LM they have downloaded ok on to device, but when I load to computer to update mapping on Garmin Express it starts download then an error message comes up there is a error downloading. when I go to Basecamp and click on maps it shows 2019.2 and opens but it is only basic map no street level mapping, is this more poor software from Garmin that will be updated at a later date? Posted this twice as not sure where to put it or open new subject.
