Basecamp to Garmin route tranfer

Hello I am having problems with my Garmin Drive 50, I am using Basecamp 4.7.0.
When I make a route with Basecamp, I create several Via Points with names.
But when I send the route to my device the via points are renamed to road names.
Eg:This via point in Basecamp is called Loch Eilein but on my Garmin "Road" as shown
on the pop up dialog on the right just below the via ponts name.
My GPS has no opcion to edit the names of via points.
PS: I have converted the same route from a gpx to an itn route and sent it to my old Tomtom,
which displays the route names correctly, so it looks like my garmin device does not understand
Basecamp.

How are you creating the via points? Mine always use the name I've given them.

With the insert pen I select the desired point on my route and then edit its name to what I want to call.
But once exported to my device I end up with the road name.
If I select a POI it is displayed correctly on Garmen.

You need to create a waypoint first then add it to the route, that way it will retain the name.

Is it posible to convert an existing via point into a waypoint?
The route I created is 1700 km long with 29 viapoints that advise on arrival.
How do you combine waypoins with viapoints?

Wow, that's a long route and might not transfer easily to your device. I'd try breaking it into smaller chunks.

However to answer your question you can turn it into an alerting point by opening route properties, then right click and select alert on arrival.

Edit: just re-read your post, you can't change viapoints into proper waypoints but you can add waypoints to a route. It seems confusing but that's just the way it is. A route created in BaseCamp using the create route tool creates viapoints, that alert, or shaping points, that are marked as do not alert but will on certain devices that cannot accept shaping points, on others they won't alert.

Ok thanks for your patience, how do you combine wayponts with viapoints?
I can not see how to combine them.

Create whatever waypoints you wish to add to a route, then open route properties and click the plus icon on the right hand side, you can then use the up/down arrows to place it exactly where you want. However I find it easier to start with a number of waypoints and create a route from them, you can do this by selecting them all, right clicking and choosing create route from selected waypoints.
