Waypoint wish list

As a newbie to BaseCamp I find there are some attributes of Waypoints which are not useful, see below. Am I missing a step/doing something wrong?

A web link which I added to a waypoint using the appropriate button in the "Notes" tab does not create a link which is easily (within one or two clicks) accessible when looking at the map.

The text which appears when one clicks on a waypoint which came with the map cannot be copied to the clipboard. This means if I want to do an internet search I have to manually type the text into my browser. Is this a BC issue or does it depend on the maker of the map?

I have created a number of lists of waypoints in a Folder. Examples: "!_Possible_Routes_North" and "!_Possible_Routes_South". If I click one list, I see the corresponding routes on the map; if I click the other, I see those. However, when I try to see both together I find it impossible to select both lists in my library (by Ctrl-Leftclick) - I can only select one or the other. Is there any way of showing the contents of more than one list at a time?

Environment: Tracks4Africa in BC 4.6.2 (haven't upgraded because of the incorrect transfer problem) under Windows 10, kept up to date. Mobile: Drive 51 and Etrex Vista Hcx.

  • If you want to see both together you need them in the same list or in the same folder. Selecting the folder will show all lists in that folder.
  • As mentioned above, BaseCamp uses folders and lists isolate objects shown on the map. My Collection will show every thing. Selecting a folder will show all lists (even those is sub folders) within that folder and selecting a list shows only those items in a list. An item can exist on more than one list, but it refers to the same item. Change it one list and it will change on all lists.

You can create a waypoint by right clicking on the things that came with your map. It will show up in the lower left pane. Select it, pause and then click on it again and the name should appear highlighted. Now it will copy to the clipboard. Delete the waypoint when you are done.

As far as I know, opening the waypoint properties is the only way to access the url. But, double clicking the waypoint on the map or in the lower left pane and clicking on notes is only one more click than you asked for,.
