Uploading GPX to nuvi 2300

Hello!

I've been trying to upload a gpx route to my 2300, with no luck.

I created a route (not track) within basecamp, and exported it to my PC as a GPX.

(I have also tried uploading it directly through basecamp).

I then dropped this into the GPX folder on the sat nav, and booted it up.

I've opened the trip planner and left it a while, but nothing appears.

Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong? I've tried googling and can't seem to find anything.

Thanks!
  • Your device can't accept routes from BaseCamp. See this FAQ

Question: Why can't I find the route I sent from MapSource or BaseCamp on my nuvi series device?
    Answer:
    This article is applicable to the nuvi 30, 40, 50, 52, 54, 200, 205, 300, 600, 1100, 1200, 1300, 2200, 2300, and 3700 series devices.

Although MapSource or BaseCamp will indicate that a route has been sent to the device successfully, these devices are unable to read the file since they do not support this feature. MapSource and BaseCamp can still be used to transfer maps and waypoints to these devices.

Although the nuvi 2200 and 2300 series do support multiple stop routing, they will not display routes sent from MapSource or BaseCamp. These devices use Trip Planner and do not currently have a way to import the transferred routes into Trip Planner.

    Thanks for the speedy reply!

That's a shame though... Do you know if there is a list available for which nuvi models do support routes?

    Thanks!
  • All the new ones, from 2013 models onwards, that have the trip planner app do. The 2200 and 2300 series used the original trip planner app and it's that that is the issue with those models.

Going backwards all the older models that use Route Planner also support routes from BaseCamp.

So looking at the wikipedia page, that would include 42, 44, etc etc? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Garmin_products#N%C3%BCvi_series_(2005-2015)

Would I be able to find somewhere that lists which older models use the route planner?

I'm just looking to pickup and old garmin unit to use on my motorbike occasionally, so I only need very basic functionaility.

    Thanks!
  • No as the 42 and 44 don't have trip planner. As for the older ones with route planner not sure of a list but the 14xx models do.

Three days ago I bought a new basic Drive 51 LM (USA) because my Nuvi 56 (USA & Canada) was an "Essential" model without Lifetime Map Upgrades. I immediately used Garmin Express to upgrade the Drive 51 firmware and off the shelf maps. It still works!

Frankly, the features on the device are such that I do not see a reason to use Basecamp incorrectly to mess things up. Good value for a new summer trip.
