I recently completed a 3 day backpacking trip and have 5 different tracks I want to combine into 1. I exported .gpx files from Garmin Connect and imported them all to base camp. I then combined the tracks and exported a .gpx file to import back into Garmin Connect. The imported file has my elevation as flat in 2 different long sections. The elevation data is correct on the original split files. I was using a Garmin Fenix 3 HR. Any ideas?
I assume that you could see elevation changes after importing the files into BaseCamp.
My guess would be that you either joined the tracks in the wrong order or that at least one of the tracks needs to be reversed. Tracks are directional and when they are joined they will be joined from the last point in the first file listed to first point in the next file listed and so on.
Select the three tracks in the lower left pane via ctrl-left clicks. A right-click will open a menu and you should choose advanced>join selected tracks. The tracks need to be in order 1st/top to last/bottom. The position of track can be changed by selecting the track to be moved and using the up/down arrows on the left side. A track can be reversed by selecting it and clicking on the curvy arrow to the left.
