Creating GPX files in Basecamp

I wonder if someone can help. We have been encouraged to move from Mapsource to Basecamp and I'm getting used to the latter but have an annoying issue. When I get Basecamp to save a trip as a GPX file ready for transport to the Zumo 590LM it ignores my title and creates a new name which is the name which appears in the trip detail when imported and I then have to rename all the trips back again. Since most of the trips are from one hotel to another, it usually picks up the hotel name but not always and might just be a road name. Mapsource has a simple ticbox option to tell it to keep your title. Is it not there on Basecamp? I haven't found it.

You need to provide more details. I can't understand what you are meaning. When you save a GPX file with either program, you simply enter whatever filename you want.

Are you talking about naming a "route"? You open the route and enter whatever title that you want.

Agreed. Not sure what you're doing as my routes always transfer with the name I've given to them.

OK. I have created a file in Basecamp which is a route and I ask Basecamp to save it and it saves it to my hard drive as (say) "Day 1" and it shows in the hard drive as Day1.gpx. I then transfer that file to the GPX folder on the Zumo unit. I then look for that route on the Zumo and its there but its not called Day 1. It's called Point A to Point B and I then have to rename it as Day 1. In Mapsource one of the options was to keep the route name but I can't find this on Basecamp

The route title is within the route. It is not the name of the file. Open the route in Basecamp or Mapsource and change the route title. The options are the same in both programs.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1354132.jpg

Not sure too why you're saving it to your PC first? Just send it direct from BaseCamp.

I save routes to the PC first since its easier to assemble all the daily routes there first and then transfer all of them by copy and paste to the unit at the same time. Thanks to Red90rover for the heads up on my schoolboy error that I was confusing the file name with the route name and I can now see how to sort it.

You can send as many routes as you wish from BaseCamp to your device in one go, in fact you can send routes, waypoints etc all combined in one go if you wish, I do it pretty much every day.
