I've looked over the BaseCamp 4.7.0 for Mac changes and I'm in no rush to install the Windows version either. In fact over the last few days I've used MapSource (over 8 years old) to successful plan a number of trips.
I get along fine with 4.6.2, and see no reason to "update" given that of the 6 changes listed on the Garmin site, 4 are to remove some functionality that is present in 4.6.2.
I have installed a new version too fast. Unfortunately also a link to Google Earth has been removed. Does somebody know, where can I download an old version?
View in Google earth works fine. What has happened is that GE changed the way it was installed, and also some versions were 64 bit that BaseCamp can't access, that may have changed with 4.7 but I have no plans to test it as my 4.6.2 system works perfectly!
If you're having issues the sticky should resolve it
Well I have used Basecamp from the beginning and have really enjoyed using it. I like the Data base method being used. I travel fulltime in my Diesel pickup and 38ft 5th wheel trailer.
I use Google Earth to pin point the location of every campground that I plan to go to before leaving so I have no problem with my trailer. I have even installed an older version of Google Earth which has been working with no problem. Basecamp can locate the waypoint if I have google earth launched. It looks like now I can't even use Basecamp to locate the entry points to campgrounds with this new version. I wish that this had been left in Basecamp for those of us that have no problem using an older version of Google Earth. Unless I can figure out a way to locate the campgrounds exact location I will have to reinstall Basecamp 4.6.2.
I really like Basecamp. I wish this change had not been made. I have no Idea how to export my location to KLM 2.2. This is not a great workaround for me..
