Adding waypoints to route - how?

I am using BC to create routes for a motorcycle rally and therefore, the rally route is fixed, i.e. it cannot be re-calculated. The routes will be uploaded to my BMW NAV v (which I believe is a Nuvi 660 or similar). Having created the routes, I now need to add some waypoints with descriptive titles. I have spent days trying to work this out but have not found a solution that works. I have found where I can include the points but it seems that the route then needs to be recalculated and my original route is lost. Surely there is a way to add some stops/waypoints without having to recalculate?

Could someone give me some pointers please?

Thanks
  • I'm afraid if you add waypoints the route will be recalculated. If it were me I'd make a duplicate of the route and add any waypoints to that. Then you can see where any differences are and add further points where necessary so it follows the original route.

Another user reported issues with creating a constant speed automobile road rally a few months ago. In that case it was preferable to calculate the route by shortest (road vector) method and not by fastest time. It may be that the more common Motorcycle Group Ride routing would be better served by using shortest, not fastest, routing in case of recalculation. It's worth a try.

Good call!! Thanks. Seems obvious to me that this should be possible without having to find a work-around!

    Cheers

Now that sounds worth trying. I think there is also a "curvey" option which I could try.

    Thanks

The Curvy option will likely not work, as it may disable local slow speed road vectors as well as Limited Access Highways.

Sorry to come to the party late but, could one use the "insert" tool? This would recalculate, but I've found it is a faster way to get Basecamp to go where you want??
