I think I have just formatted my new GB Discoverer 1:50K SD card!!!! Help!

Argghhhhh!!!!!!

I recently got the above SD card, plugged it into my Etrex20 and connected it to Basecamp to plan a route. However Basecamp wouldn't let me click the route planning buttons which were greyed out. So I thought, 'that's odd' is this just and image that I've bought for a whopping £175 (I know, they have just been reduced to £150)? If I'd realised that I wouldn't have bothered as I need to plan my routes on the big computer screen and send to my GPS. I had a 1:25K Lake District SD card which worked fine so I was really confused.

Then a popup appeared telling me to update my etrex. So I did because I thought this may be part of the problem. I admit that I didn't read all the small print (who does?) and now when I rebooted my etrex there is no map there at all! Have I wiped the very-bloody-expensive 1:50k off the SD card? If so, is there anything I can do?

Ok, so I've done the whole switch it off, take the card out and put it in again thing, and the map has returned! Yay!!

However, the same issue still applies. I can't plot a route. Is this supposed to be the case? the filename is gmapsupp.img which suggests it is just an image file. However I could plan a route on my 1:25k of the Lake District. How is that the case?

The 1:50K OS map isn't routeable if you're hoping to route along footpaths etc. You'll need to use the Direct activity profile and plot routes point by point.

It's actually a disk image file. That is, it's a file that contains multiple files. It contains map data.
