Won't show anything but paved roads

Just bought a Zumo 395ML Motorcycle GPS unit and loaded the Basecamp software. I want to create a route here in Colorado that is on the dirt roads, but Basecamp won't show that level of detail on the maps. All I get is paved roads. What the heck? This software is one of the least intuitive pieces of software I've ever used. So far, my experience with Garmin has been extremely sub-par.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I'm a rank newbie to BC, but I'm pretty sure that the level of detail that you see in BC derives from the map(s) you are using. I know that the topo map that I am using, for example, shows down to the path level. What map are you using in BC?

What map are you using? Have you downloaded a map to your computer, or plugged in the Z395 into a usb port so BaseCamp can read the map from the GPS? If not, then you're looking at the global basemap which has very little detail and is not routable. If you have downloaded a map or connected the GPS then you need to select that map in the pulldown map products menu. Once you have a routable map selected the level of detail shown depends on map detail selection and zoom level.

If you do not see either the map products or detail level pull downs, right click on the menu bar and select "Detail" and "Map Products" them from the choices.

As posted, BaseCamp can only show what roads are on the map you're using, so which map is it?
