Cannot create proper Routes on Garmin Basecamp

Hi there

I am using the latest version of Garmin Basecamp. i have been following a tutorial to create waypoints (3 of them) and then a route between them.
Hoever the route is not created properly and its showing as a triangle with diagonal lines between the waypoints, with one of the lines going into the sea!

I expected Gamin Basecamp to properly mark out the route using the road layout.

Is there something not set up properly in Basecamp? I can only view the map in 2d.

Further when i downloaded the route to my Gamin Nuvo 660, the route did not give a preview, or a list of the roads i would need to take on my route.

Well first which map are you trying to use? Is it a map that contains routing data? If so have you selected the correct activity profile? As for it not working on your nuvi 660 does that model support routes? I'm not sure it does.

Ok I was using the Global Map. This does not contain routing data?

Also by correct activity profile, I was using Motorcycling.

Ah you mean a Zumo 660 not a Nuvi. The Zumo does support routing.

Hi there
Ok i tried to create the Route using Co-ordinates for Waypoints.
I did the following:
1) Created Waypoints for my destinations
2) Created a route with way points.
3) Set profile to Mortorcycling and then re-calcalculated.

But im still getting diagonal lines as shown in the attached screenshots

Residential Streets need to be enabled for city routing. They may be disabled by default for country "curvy road" routing to keep the route from taking a shortcut an any available road vector.

Are you sure it's routeable? If so try clicking on the recalculate button at the bottom of route properties. If you're still getting straight lines try a different profile, like Driving rather than Motorcycling.
