Can I show my own POIs on the basecamp map

I have created a list in basecamp of all the cafes in my area. When I am in that list in basecamp I can see all the cafes. However, I want to go into a new list and create a new route that will visit some of the cafes. Is there a way to show the cafes in the basecamp map, even though I am creating a new route in a new list?

A sort of map overlay?

Any hints or tips appreciated.

Regards, Dave.
  • Yes, copy the data to the new list where you're creating the new route.

Many thanks for the reply sussamb.

Yes, that is what I am having to do at the moment, but it is VERY messy.

The point of me creating the new list is so that I can organise my routes in various categories and in various lists. But using your method it means I need to copy all the contents on my cafes list into EACH of my new lists. What I'm looking for is to be able to have all the cafes in just one list, and for the map in basecamp to show all of those points on the map - so they effectively become PART of the map.

I will then open a new list for a new route and be able to create that new route by looking at the map - the roads etc.... that I want in the route - and ALSO I'll be able to see all the café points at the same time.

Just wondered if there was a way to enhance the map showing in basecamp to hold this common data so I can see it across all the lists.....

    Regards, Dave

  • Well one way if you're intent on doing that would be to create a custom POI file containing all the cafes. With that POI file available to BaseCamp it would show in every folder/list if you selected it via Maps, Manage Custom POIs.

Many thanks again SUSSAMB. So does this mean I would have to have a usb drive connected to my pc (gps clone) when I was planning a route in basecamp, and where I didn't have my gps device connected? Or can I get the Manage Custom POIs to be ungreyed out in some other way?
