What is the term "und"

I have some roads shown in Basecamp and map version 2019.1 in an area Ill be traveling identified with "Und" and a number suffix. An example is "Und35" seen the the attached Basecamp map. My guess is it means undeveloped and its a specific Basecamp terminology? ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1303487.jpg
  • "Und" means "undeveloped road". It's the name of the road/path in the map.

It has nothing to do with Basecamp.
  • Undeveloped makes sense. I have several forestry maps of the area and all of the roads have names or forestry road number like 9S07 some of which Basecamp defines as "undxx" so makes me think its peculiar to Basecamp. The particular road Und35 shown on Basecamp does not exist in the forestry maps but the forestry map shows a mine, Maple Load Mine, near the terminus of Basecamps Und35. So again, undeveloped makes sense. I suspect an old abandoned mine road. Ill check it out on friday

    "several forestry maps"? Paper?

The "Und" stuff is map data. It's in the digital map that Basecamp is displaying.

A map element (like a road) might have multiple attributes (possibly, a "main" name and an "alternative" name).

It's possible Basecamp is using the name from one attribute rather than another.

What map are you using in Basecamp?

Exactly. BaseCamp is simply pulling the data from the map detail. Just because it's not there on the paper map it doesn't mean that data isn't in the electronic map.
  • garmin map is 2019.1. Other maps Im using are forestry and street maps generally regional to Southern California and from multiple sources, both paper and electronic some free some Ive paid for. In all of that data, there is not one instance of the term "Und" or undeveloped. the term makes sense to use and now that I confirmed its meaning I can interpret Garmin maps better. Und term must be peculiar to Basecamp.

No, it has nothing to do with Basecamp.

The "und" stuff is from the "garmin map is 2019.1" (the Garmin City Navigator map).
