I have a Garmin Zumo 595LM and downloaded Basecamp a while ago to start playing with it. I have an upcoming trip departing from Los Angeles and arriving to New Orleans. I'm using my motorcycle for this trip.
During the trip, I have 6-7 stops along the way. I want to avoid major highways/freeways and take mostly back roads and smaller highways, but I don't want to do insane amounts of additional distance to achieve it.
The first and foremost problem I'm having is that when I select "Create a Trip" and input starting and ending points, Basecamp takes FOREVER to calculate the initial route. I'm going on half an hour already without signs of completion so far. Am I doing something wrong? All software is up do date on PC and GPS. Is a new trip not the way to go for this?
I will most likely want to fine tune the route that Basecamp will give me. I've yet to see what the initial route looks like, but based on some things I see it won't be spot on what I want. Once trip planner finishes creating the default route, will I be able to fine tune it or am I wasting my time?
Thanks!
