I have a problem with Basecamp 4.6.2. Windows 7 x64. The first time I open Basecamp on any given day it takes several minutes to open. After that if I open it again it takes seconds. If I have had it open anytime during the day and I open it before midnight it takes seconds without rebooting but after midnight the first time I open it it takes minutes again. I think it's checking for something daily. Online maybe. Can I turn this behaviour off or do you know why it does this? and what I can do about it. I have reinstalled btw.
Is it perhaps your av or other program checking it on first use? Try switching anything like that off and see what happens. It could also be that it's logging into your Garmin account if you have it set to do that?
Thanks. Yes signing into MyGarmin' seems to be the issue. Quite what that offers beyond a big slowdown once a day and cloud storage I guess is beyond me. Do you know of anything else? Why the application has to wait instead of the signing in process running in another thread I dunno either. If you tick 'Remember Me' and logout it forgets you. I fail to see the logic in that.
No idea why that should be the issue but glad you've resolved it. Unfortunately as far as I know BaseCamp is not being developed further so it won't change.
