can a "route" have waypoints or POI?

I create a basecamp "route" from a GPX track. Works fine. I want to have waypoints or POI included in the route. I can't seem to find out how to do this.
Is it possible? How do I do it?
Thanks
Pat
  • I'm not sure you can but then I don't often create routes from tracks that I then want to modify. I suspect your best bet is to create a new route that you can adjust to follow the track, then you will be able to add POIs etc. Others may have better ideas.
  • You can't add them to a track. As suggested above, you could convert the track to a direct route, then add POIs or Waypoints. If the new route is converted back to a track the added Waypoints/ POIs would become unidentified track points. An alternative might be to upload the track and Waypoints/POIs with a proximity alert on the Waypoints/POI's. You would navigate the track and hopefully be alerted when you approached a Waypoint or POI. You will have to run a test to see if it will work on your device.
  • as said by BTLAAKE, you can add waypoint to a route only. Use the red flag on the toolbar to create your waypoint, then on your route properties you can add the waypoint you just created -on the same list as the route-by clicking the green plus icon, then reposition your waypoint along the route to have it as a course point.

After, being alerted or not while approaching the created waypoint with the proximity alert -no need to have it as a course point then-, I never ever managed to get this working on my edge 820..
