I hope I can explain this clearly enough, I have an old version of TOPO 2008 installed in Basecamp and am trying to figure out how to select an area to upload to a GPS, when I use the select tool it doesn't give any options to do anything, just highlights the area then disappears, which brings me to my second question, if I buy a GPS (Montana 610) w/o maps installed , can I use the old TOPO to generate maps to use on it?
You don't use the select tool. To install maps onto a device right click it and select Install maps then follow the instructions. As for using that particular map it will depend on whether it's unlocked or not. In any case I suspect it's well out of date.
Do I have to have a device connected? I should be able to grab an area and save it as a favorite or something along that line. As for TOPO 2008, it is unlocked and since the topography hasn't changed I would think it is still good
