My apologies if this is the wrong forum, but I don't know if it is a device or Base Camp issue:
I am in the habit of creating routes in Base Camp and loading them into my NUVI 2789. All of my routes utilize shaping points, usually NON-alerting shaping points set to non-alert in Base Camp.
Often I change the names that Base Camp creates (which are typically addresses or route numbers) so I have a unique name because shaping points behave like waypoints in that the name must be unique within your database. I also do so for logically identifying them for future use in another route to avoid duplication.
The problem is when I transfer those shaping points to my device, sometimes the complete name I gave the point transfers over, sometimes not.
It is not a number of character thing because the problem doesn?t follow long named shaping points.
It also has nothing to do with sending the shaping points as non-alerting because the same thing happens when I send them as alerting.
It has nothing to do the number of shaping points in a route because it happens to shaping points in a route with a few or many. It seems to be totally random.
While it may not seem like a big deal to many users, having shaping points display with their complete name on the device helps if you want to manually change the starting point of a pre-loaded route.
However if four of them display with the same name, it is a little tricky trying to figure out which one is the one you want.
Manually adding the missing information by editing the point in the device is too much of a hassle with the number I have.
Thanks in advance for any insight or answers anyone can provide!
