Road not appearing in GPS thats is on Basecamp?

BaseCamp will route along it if, for example, you choose Mountain Biking. If you're using a different profile untick 'Avoid unpaved road'.

Nope. There is no road visible on the gps display. While visible on basecamp. Avoid is unticked.

I'm not sure that an automobile GPS will show an unpaved road, even if it's on the map. I'll need to have a look into that in more depth. Once I've done so I'll post back.

I have an outdoor handheld and the road is present on the 2014 map. But to see it, the Map Detail has to be changed from Normal to More or Most and you have to really zoom in for it to show up. I don't know what options, if any, auto units have for the map display. On a handheld it can be accessed via the map page or setup menu>map>advanced map setup.

OK, well the road is showing on my 2508. I can create a route in BaseCamp and send it to my GPS which will, in simulation mode, navigate it. I can also do a where to while in simulation mode and it will create a route from one end to the other but only if unpaved roads is unchecked, not surprisingly.

I riden 1000s of miles on dirt roads that are identified by Basecamp with routes planned from Basecamp and then transferred (Send to Device) to the GPS (Garmin 855). I never had a problem with the GPS providing the route exactly as laid out by Basecamp for these dirt roads . This is the first time in years of doing this that the GPS would not match what I planned in Basecamp. That particular road "Geology Tour Rd" which was routed in Basecemp for some reason does not appear in the GPS and the GPS routes around it. BTW with this same transfer there are many miles of dirt roads that I planned in Basecamp and did correctly transfer to the GPS.

Thanks for confirming that. We don't have many dirt roads in Europe so it's not often I need to navigate them.

Joshua Tree National Park is in the desert, and therefore Automobile and RV gps units tend to purposely omit 4WD trails of dubious quality in road routing for safety reasons.

However for dedicated off road adventurers with a few gallons of extra fuel and water on board, creating a Direct point to point route in Basecamp may provide usable guidance on trails such as this, as long as the user does not attempt to include these multiple off road points in the main road route.
