Garmin GPS in Wrangler

So I got this Jeep Wrangler with Nav. Its a Garmin GPS. Controls look familar but dumbed down. For example there is no ability to load a .gpx in to the device nor download historical routes data.
Would you happen to have any clues if its possible to put a different software load into the GPS such that I can perform the normal functions Ive enjoyed with the handheld? Like loading a .gpx and calling it up in the device to provide turn by turn and downloading the actual route traveled for evalution with Basecamp?

What makes you say there is no ability to load gpx files etc?

There are no commands in the menus that provide ability to load a gpx. Do you know how?

There isn't in a Garmin either, you just need to copy the relevant gpx file and place it in the GPX folder on the device.

The Chrysler car manufacture has built in GPS provided by Garmin that is part of their "Uconnect" system controlled through a common touch screen in the dash.

from the built in GPS menu there is no ability to import routes into the GPS that I can see in the command set offered by the built in GPS. There is no ability to connect a computer to the buillt in GPS.

For a portable GPS like the Garmin 855 requires a route to be installed like this....... A Route is "Sent" from Basecamp to the 855 GPS. From the GPS use the commands "Tools/My Data/Import ROUTES from file". Then to select the route for use by the GPS use "Where to?"/Routes".

So im trying to discover if its possible to install a version of software that will allow me to use Routes in the built in GPS.

Modern Garmin GPS don't need the Import function you mention, it's all done automatically.
If you can't connect the device to a PC does it have a card slot?

I contacted Garmin support and the vehicle GPS does not support importing .gpx. From Garmin support.........
"Unfortunately the Garmin software built into your Chrysler RHB radio system is not compatible with GPX files or the Garmin BaseCamp software. There is no way to load a route onto a USB drive or SD card and load it to the system; this feature simply does not exist and was not included in this design for Chrysler.

All routes have to be created on the radio head unit itself. "
