how to copy lat/long for a waypoint from the detailed track display dialog

using BC 4.6.2, when I double click on a track, it pops up a nice scrolling display box that shows an Excel-like listing of the track's points, with their index, elevation, speed, time, position, etc. All works great.

I want to be able to click on a line of data, and copy it so that I can create a waypoint at that particular lat/long.
There is a "copy" choice when I right-click, but I haven't figured out any way to use the copied data. I can't seem to paste it meaningfully into anything. I've tried the obvious like pressing "paste" in the waypoint dialog, trying to paste into notepad or vi, etc. with zero luck.

I've even tried to "paste" using the right mouse into BC's own "search" box. Nothing happens.

There much be a way that I'm missing. Help.
thanks
Pat
  • Simplest way is to click on the line of data, that creates a circle on the map around that particular point. Then use the waypoint tool to create a waypoint at that spot.

Been doing that, but it doesn't seem to put it on the exact spot. When you click on the line of data, and "copy" you have the exact information. Should be trivial to actually use it. But I can't figure out how to do it without a bunch of typing or mousing.

  • Sorry, always accurate enough for me. Away from my PC at the mo so unable to check for any other way.
  • If you check the Center Map in the lower left of the the Track Properties and select a point as you have described, it will place the point in the center of the screen. The Locate Coordinates dialog (ctrl-T or via the Find menu) default position is the center of the map and it allows you to create a Waypoint at that position. Check the box, choose a point (reverse order should work too), click on the BaseCamp bar to change the active window and type ctrl-T.
