Nuvi 1690 does not connect to BaseCamp

Try uninstalling then reinstalling BaseCamp

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem.
On a side note ExpertGPS does not recognize the nuvi 1690 neither.

You say Express recognises it but not BaseCamp and ExpertGPS?

BaseCamp does not recognize it.
Expert GPS does not recognize it.

I am not sure about Garmin Express.
It is already there as a device and the nuvi 1690 does connect when it is plugged in. And I am able to update firmware and maps.
But when I select 'Add a device' the nuvi 1690 is not found.

Well if it's already listed Express won't add it again. Given that it's not clear if Express will actually detect it try deleting using Windows Explorer the GarminDevice.xml file in the Garmin folder. Then disconnect from your PC and reboot your device. That recreates the xml file that if corrupt can cause issues. Now see if BaseCamp etc will see it.

The situation is the same after deleting GarminDevice.xml and rebooting the device.

I am reluctant to delete the listed device in Express to see if 'Add a device' will recognize it then.
I must add that this is actually a nulink 1690 Live device if it means anything?

I suggest then you call Garmin Support so they can do some detailed troubleshooting.

Just confirm it isn't shown as 0kb in size? Also as I posted above, Express won't list it if it's already been added.
