Basecamp and Garmin Drive 50

I am using Basecamp to create a route and then trying to add it to a Garmin Drive 50

Basecamp can see the Internal Storage and I can successfully send the route to the device.

This is where I run into problems though!

- I get a message on the device saying it cannot add the route after starting it up
- When I connect the device back into Basecamp, the route is not on Internal Storage anymore
- If I follow the same steps on my Garmin Edge 820 it works without problems.

Questions:
(1) After adding the route to the Garmin Drive 50, where does it actually store it?
(2) Does the Garmin Drive 50 actually support the uploading routes?
(3) If it does not, then where can I find the list of Garmin Devices that does?
  • BaseCamp sends data to your device in a file normally named temp.gpx and you'll find it in the GPX directory.

Your device does accept routes from BaseCamp, I have a similar model and it works without issue, so there must be a problem with the route you're sending. Ensure you are sending a route and not a track, if it's a track that would explain why it's not working as your Drive cannot read tracks, whereas your Edge can. If you are sure it's a route and not a track attach it here and I'll have a look at it.
