Bug in Basecamp 4.6.2: No names for Saved cources on Edge 1000

Hi All,

It's been a while since the release of 4.6.2 so I wondered whether my bug was solved. But it's not I still have this problem:
When I install 4.6.2 (W10) and hook up my Edge 1000 I do see a list of all the files (tracks / saved cources, waypoints etc) stored on my edge. However I do not see their names, instead it shows just an almost insignificant mess of files named by date, but not any file name as I gave originally. So I had to revert back to 4.5.2.

I had this bug also when 4.6.2 got released. In the meantime I changed PC so I though to give it a try. Well, no luck, on a fresh installed W10 PC it's just the same.

So I wonder:
1 are there more people having this bug? Any know solution?
2 Does Garmin even listen to their customers? I've complaint more than once

  • I think this is more likely a device issue rather than BaseCamp, as I have a Montana and Etrex 20 and they display the names as I send them to the device. I only see the date/time name you mention if I save a current track on the device, but even then I have the option to rename it, generally I don't as I prefer to do all of that in BaseCamp. Try asking this question in the Edge 1000 forum.
  • How is this a device issue?
As mentioned, the problem does occur in the latest version of Basecamp (4.6.2) regardless of all the firmware updates I received the last year on my garmin edge 1000.
As soon as I revert back to version 4.5.2 than the names are shown normal again.
Furthermore, when I hook up my edge 1000 to Mapsource, I also see the filenames normally.

So I really think this is a problem in basecamp. To bad no more user experience this issue.
  • It's a device issue because otherwise my two GPS would exhibit the same behaviour but they don't, so that indicates it's not a BaseCamp bug. Try calling Product Support to see if anyone else has reported it.
