Opening Trip Planner SLOW

I have been trying to develop a trip plan for a visit to Africa and am finding that Basecamp is EXTREMELY slow opening a Trip Plan - it can take several minutes to actually display.
I am running the latest version 4.6.2 on a Toshiba Laptop 64bit under Windows 10. Is there some secret?

    Trip Planner Slow Performance

For what its worth I have the same performance issue. Similar to you, I'm using the latest version on Windows 10 & it can take 5mins to open and worse, every change takes another few minutes to respond. Pity as there are some good features that could be useful.
PLEASE Garmin sort this out or give guidance of any work arounds?
  • I don't use trip planner as I prefer to create individual routes using the route tool, but I have experimented with it and haven't found it slow. Are you using maps loaded to your PC or ones that are on your device? If on your device then it could slow things down, but that's not something that can be blamed on BaseCamp.

    Further Explanation

Just to qualify my issue. I have no problems with BASECAMP, I use it all the time to create routes & have planed many routes through Europe & the UK.
The issue is related to the Trip Planner functionality, it can be incredibly slow to open a trip, for example, I have planned a 10 day route through France & Spain. As routes in a list, no problems, the routes open up immediately & can be manipulated with no problems. If I replicate the 10 routes as a 10 day Trip, to open the trip takes 10 minutes to get to the editable state. I only really use it to determine how long (in terms of miles) it takes to get to various parts of the route using the slider bar (for choosing fuel stops for instance). If I close it down & re-open, then bang... another 10 mins of waiting!
This can't be right can it? I have tried to start from scratch but its too cumbersome to insert points & it asks you to close trip planner to insert the point, then another 10 mins to open...
