Find maximum speed

When double-clicking a track a wndows opens with all waypoints and an overview.
In the overview are a lot of properties abot the track, like Maximum Speed.

Is there a way to find on the map where it was that you reached maximum speed? (Clicking on the max.speed number doesn't work)
  • Speed Graph

If you click the Graph tab, you can change the display from Elevation to Speed. As you move your pointer over the spikes and valleys of the graph, you will see a little hiking man icon move across the map along your track to indicate where that happened. Same thing with Elevation.
  • Thanks, that works.
Now I would like to find that same point in the list... which is not easy because I crossed the same track a few times.
  • Two points can be selected on graphs to define a section of a track for the purpose of providing some summary data for that section - for example, the elevation change for a hill. Left clicks mark the points on the graph and the map. A third left click will remove them. A right click will remove all points. Only one point is needed for your purpose. After marking the point on the graph, use the selection tool (arrow) to select a point by the standing man's staff. This will highlight the point in the Properties tab. It may not be the desired point, but it should be near it.
  • Very nice, thanks!
Still not easy to do when you crossed the same track multiple times though.

Maybe if Garmin is listening: double-clicking a property like maximum altitude or speed could select the appropriate line.
Or if Basecamp would allow us to export the table to a CSV we could do all calculations ourselves. Would't that be nice?
  • It is possible to paste the table into Excel. Select a point in the table, type ctrl-a and ctrl-c, then paste in Excel. I won't guarantee all rows will transfer to the correct columns, but errors should be easy to fix. Much of the data will paste as text, for example, a speed value will appear as "x mph" in a single column. This can be separated by inserting a column to the right. Selecting the column with the data then choosing "Text to Columns" under the Data menu; "Delimited" and checking "space" as the delimiter.
  • I tried it in OpenOffice Calc and that works also.
Thanks, this save a lot of time!
