Road Label Size - Too Large - Too Many

Looking for a solution to reduce the SIZE & NUMBER of Road Labels that appear through pretty much all levels of zoom on the map.
Using Basecamp 4.6.2, and an Australian open source map. (and maybe that's a function of the map provider ???)

Tried all the following settings;
Labels - Fewer/More
Symbol Size - Small/Large
Detail Level - Lower/Highest

See attached image for what I am looking at. They really make it hard to find my waypoints.
This was just at the "HIGH" level of detail.

When I see the number of variables programmed into my Montana unit, I am wondering why there are so few user options in Basecamp.

:confused::confused:
  • Definitely seems like a map issue as I've never seen anything like that before. Try seeing if any of the options in Edit, Options, Activity Routeing, Map display features help reduce the clutter on that particular map.

    Different Continent

    Here is what a different continent and a different Map Base looks like.
    Map is Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2015.4
    Area is around the East Coast (Providence, for reference) USA
    Basically the same over sized Road labels that obscure waypoints and POI.

    I tried all the options, (limited as they are) as I mentioned before and no (real)joy.

    Although the 3 settings for “Labels” (fewer <–> more) does eliminate some of them, but does not make them smaller.
    A problem with that though, you also lose the labels for POI’s.

    All out of options at this point. Should mention I am running Windows 8.1 at this time.
    I have other issues with this Basecamp product, sort of glad one does not have to pay for it, directly anyway. :(
  • Well I suspect you have something wrong somewhere, I get nothing like your screenshot even at the highest resolution

    I've used BaseCamp for many years now, both for hiking and road trips, and for a free program it's impossible to beat for my use.
  • Just a thought, but does changing your monitor resolution affect the size of the road labels?

    It would make sense for the labels to be a fixed size and not scale with zooming. You wouldn't want them to become unreadable when zooming out.

    As you have already discovered, the road labels are tied in some manner to the roads and it is not possible to remove the one with removing the other.
  • I have the same problem with the road labels being too large. Ive tried every setting I could in Basecamp but could not fix. Same problem on 2 different laptops Lenovo and Dell. The only option Ive found is to live with it.
