Google earth

I removed a lot of old "places" from Google Earth and now BC can't find Google Earth. I reinstalled GE and that didn't help. What do I need to do? FYI - I'm still launching Google Earth manually, did that problem ever get fixed?
  • I had the same problem in that Google Earth wouldn't open from Basecamp. Tried Susanb's command prompt(admin) in windows 10 It worked
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google Earth\client\googleearth.exe" /RegServer Just copied and pasted into command prompt. I had tried before without success.
  • No joy for me with any of the solutions posted. Specified file path not found.
  • Where is the "Googleearth.exe" file on your PC?
  • Well I tried again and this time it worked.
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google Earth\client\googleearth.exe" /RegServer

I must have made a typo the first time I tried it ;)

Basecamp in conjunction use wth Google Earth problem..

    Greetings,

I have always a problem when i want to use Google Earth 7.1.8.3036 (32-bit) in window/program from BaseCamp. When i try to do this, after have selected an POI or route on left side of Basecamp. Then i always get a message, that it not could find my Google Earth and that i have to open Google Earth first and try again. All this even when Google Earth is already open. I also used the command in prompt what is told in another 'sticky' threat - "C:\Program Files (86)\Google\Google Earth\client\googleearth.exe" /RegServer
And that also gave me a error menu that it not could find the path etc. Even when i checked before if it was there or not.
    BTW i use Windows10.

Thx very much in advance for answer/sollution.

  • The correct path will vary depending on system and when google earth was installed. If there is a short-cut on the desktop, right-click > properties and the short-cut tab. The target will show the correct path. Otherwise, right-click on Google Earth under All Programs and do as above. You must be in the root directory; if not type cd c:\ . You need to include the quotes. The command line should look like - c:"your path"/RegServer. Hope this helps.

Thx for the respond. I was for a while out of country for my work (coach driver). I will try it out, i have also re-installed GE-Pro and BC now. Now it works. Even when GE-Pro is not open and I choose one of the options then GE-Pro opens separately, but not inside of the BC window.
I've never used the option for use both in conjunction, so i don't know if that's a normal thing, sorry for this. ;) Of course i see the 'waypoints' now in temporary place at GE-Pro, so i think if i make a route etc, that those also will be there in temporary place. Nice..

  • BaseCamp will open Google Earth as a separate program. Selected items/sheet/folder in BaseCamp will be sent to Google Earth and placed in the Temporary Places. There is no link between BaseCamp and Google Earth. In other words, changes in one program will not cause a change it in the other.

    Google Earth problems

I used to launch Google earth first and then Basecamp would find Google Earth. Just tried now on two pcs and it does not work anymore. Tried the fix from the command prompt as administrator but still no good.
  • Where is Google earth located on your PC? You may need to tweak the suggestions above to reflect where it is. Do it correctly and it should work.
