HD Crash....

Well not a big deal as I have everything backed up. Did a SW reload and no worries. Well sort of my BC wont come up, I have some old MapSource tracks that kept me going.

Win 7
HP Laptop
Reloaded from a ext HD that has ALL my files backed up including Garmin stuff

When I try to open BC I get a pop up "the program cant start because ogckml.dll is missing"

Did some searching and it seems like a fairly common problem, but none of the solutions worked for me. I guess I can reload BC but I would have to load all my .GDB tracks into it, then organize them all over again.

Any suggestions?

Uninstalling and then reinstalling BaseCamp doesn't delete data, maps etc so go ahead and try that.

interesting, I went to uninstall like you suggested. the install date was yesterday when I started having this issue. So where are all my tracks? It has my Garmin name and I am logged in, has all my maps but no tracks? Do they need to be brought back into BC from old MapSource .GDB?

If the tracks displayed before in BC they should still be there. Did you use the default database location or another one? If the latter you'll need to point BC at it.

there was a whole bunch of tracks and waypoints before this, now there is only what was transfered from my unit a few days ago.

To answer you question, I did not make a diff database so it should be the default, but again nothing there now unlike before.

How do I make it look for a database?

I am backing up a folder on my desktop once a month, I suppose it could be in there. if NOT I need to make it save there so it will be backed up monthly like all my other stuff, what do I need search for to locate the both database(s)?

The only thing I found was a "restore from previous version" and since it cannot be undone.......I did not do it.

Can't explain that but the data folder will be in C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Garmin\Basecamp\Database where xxx is your user name

there is not garmin after appdata. not sure where mine is, I did a search on my PC but no luck. what is the name of the database? when I did I database search it pulls up a bunch of my old tracks from Mapsource.

there is this:

C:/users/XXXMEXX/AppData/Local/Garmin/Basecamp

but no database

On my Windows 10 box - C:\Users\MyWindowsAccount\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp\Database

If its not in the locations mentioned search for AllData.gdb

nothing, apparently it does not have a database. the only thing I return is when I do a search for ".gdb" it returns all my tracks.
