Help please for viewing BirdsEye images imported from an external drive

Earlier in the year my PC memory was getting full, in part due to many BirdsEye images. So I put the JnxFiles folder onto an external drive.

I now have a new computer with more memory in C drive (1TB SSD) so am starting from afresh and want to be able to see the BirdsEye images in BaseCamp again. I have downloaded 1 new area of BirdsEye. The location of that file is C:\Garmin\BaseCamp\Database\JnxFiles

Even though I've now copied the .jnx files from earlier in the year into the same location they do not show in BaseCamp, only the 1 fresh download shows.

I hope there's an easy way to see and use the previously downloaded images which was all of the New Zealand South Island plus some of Antarctica.

Not sure that would work. Have you tried connecting your external drive and viewing it in BaseCamp? Do the BirdsEye files show? If so copy them into a folder in BaseCamp.

That was a good suggestion thanks but it did not work. The Import looks for a variety of files but not the jnx type. Valid file types are: fit, gdb, gpx, jpeg, jpg, kml, kmz, loc and toc. Attached is a screen shot - sorry it's small but had to shrink it to meet the requirement of attaching an image. I'll phone the Garmin Support people in Sydney tomorrow and see if anyone can help.

You don't import. .jnx files are like routes, tracks etc. You drag/drop them from one place to another, or right click them and select Send to.

The external drive is not seen by BaseCamp as a Device. However I've got a restoration method figured out. Got a GPS with a current BirdsEye subscription and copied a jnx file from the external drive to the GPS. The file then showed in BaseCamp as a satellite image and looked fine - apart from the overly long file name in place of the proper descriptive place name I'd given it during the original download. I could then drag it to a BaseCamp Folder > List. So the next job now is to gradually copy all 100GB of files via the GPS - will use a large microSD card in the GPS to make this easier!

Simpler just to get BaseCamp to see your drive. Copy the GarminDevice.xml from your device to a folder named Garmin on your drive. Move the .jnx files to a folder named BirdsEye in the Garmin folder. Now run BaseCamp and all should be revealed :)

That was a good tip but neither the 3TB and 1TB external drives were 'seen' by BaseCamp. However the 32GB and 64GB mSD cards in USB adapters were seen OK so that wasn't so bad. Thank you.
