Route traces still hide highway numbers

I did quite a bit of looking to find an old thread on the subject but could not find it.

There's still a rather serious problem with BaseCamp 4.6.2 when viewing a route plan or, especially, for those who print maps of routes. The route trace line covers most highway numbers/names, making it very difficult to be sure of what highway you're supposed to be on. The highway indications are easy to see if there's no route trace but adding the route covers the highway indicators.

Is this problem being addressed by the folks who do the programming for Basecamp?

Thanks

I doubt it. Try posting here http://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/
Many thanks for the link. I just sent the suggestion to fix this issue to them.

With the conditions and scale I use with Basecamp I have never had an the route trace hide highway information. My route traces are narrow and translucent if not selected allowing everything to be viewed. Perhaps its the way you are using Basecamp thats causing the issue that I dont know how to replicate.
Here are some ideas to try to see it if helps improve the street name masking your experiencing:

    • Change the width of the route or symbols size : Enter commands: Edit/options/display.........from there you can change the route and track width, symbol size and a variety of things. Maybe some combination gets you what you want.
    • Change the route color: Double click on the route and a route window appears. In the upper right hand pull down menu you can select a variety of colors including "transparent". Try different colors or transparent. Transparent will still provide a very narrow line that traces the route and does not mask anything.
    • Unselect the route: If you unselect the route, the route line becomes translucent. In the list that you have created your route, select another object such as a waypoint youve added. This will unselect the route and make it translucent and easier to view anything it is over.
    • Remove unnecessary clutter: Enter commands: edit/options/activity profile/general/map display features. From there you can select what is display on the map. I generally display on the "cities" category becuase its too much clutter with all the points selected.
    • Hope there is some help here. Good luck
  • All the options you have mentioned are not the solution. Garmin has to modify the program so it will display the road numbers on top of the route/track. It is a layer issue.
