Merging two tracks in parallel

If you have both tracks visible in Basecamp you should be able to see every time the dog's track converges with yours. You can display the two tracks with different colours to make it easier to distinguish which is which.

If the time of each convergence really matters, you can check the time stamp of one of the nearest trackpoints in the properties for either of the tracks.

Is there any specific reason you need it to be more complicated with playback and merging tracks?

Merging the tracks by time stamp would not work. You would end up with lines bouncing between the two tracks. Within BaseCamp you can no do what you want. Topofusion is a pay for application that has playback for multiple tracks. But you may be able to find free software that will do this. You may only need something with track playback that you can open twice and start playback on different tracks in each window with both windows visible.

I have an Astro 320 handheld device and T5 dog collar device that I use when hunting. Both devices create their own track. Is there any way to merge the two tracks based on time stamps? I want to analyze in playback how my dog and I have moved through the terrain and to see for example how many times the dog has returned to me to seek contact.

Hello mb246,

Using BaseCamp you make a new "List" and copy both files (or as many as you want) into that list. Then you can view both files at the same time and visually pick and count where they join up.

For dual playback you can export both files to Google Earth, give each a distinct color, then click "Play Tour" and GE will move thru its great 3D Terrain and playback your hunt showing both tracks (or as many as you want).
