I'm sailing to Hawaii in a couple months + plan to rent cars on a couple of the islands. If I take my Nuvi 55LM with most recent map update, will it work in Hawaii. I've searched the net + get all kinds of answers. Some say it will, some say it won't have maps, some say no reception there. Anyone got the straight skinny?
It depends on what maps you have. Do you have Garmin's Basecamp installed on your PC? If so, connect the Nuvi and select the maps that show up on it in the lefthand column. It will take a few minutes for the maps to load from the device. Once you can view the maps, scroll over to where Hawaii should be and see if it's there.
OK, it's there so I guess it'll work. Should have known, the map says "lower 49 states". Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, but you guys know what yer doin! Thanx much!
