How import custom POIs into Basecamp?

I see there are additional sources of POIs out there on the web. I would like to supplement the Garmin POIs with these additional POIs in order add as waypoints when doing route planning.
How do I import POI files into Basecamp and then select these imported POIs so that I can search them and they will show up similarly to the way Basecamp works with its internal POIs?

Not sure about installing them into BaseCamp but I just copy them to my removable drive that is permanently installed in one of my rear USB ports.

OK. So once they are installed on your removable drive..............How do you use Basecamp to access the POIs?

They are selectable under the maps menu. You can select them to show all the time or select them when you want them.

Still not getting it. The custom POI under maps is greyed out.

How does one include custom POIs so that Basecamp can search for them. Id like to include custom POIs to enhance that provided by Garmin when planning routes to for example to make detours to visit a particular POI of interest

It will be grayed out if you have no custom POIs installed. Your USB drive also needs to be a device clone, so copy the Garmin folder from your device to the USB stick.

Tutorial for POI managment?

Is there a tutorial on how to import custom POIs into Basecamp?
These would be POIs as obtained from for example POI factory where they are .csv files. There is no GPS involved.

Im expecting to be able to view custom POIs within Basecamp in order to create a route to various custom POIs.

I read it. I dont see how it helps.
The instruction are how to import to a GPS device. It doesnt provide instruction on how import POIs into use Basecamp. I have to believe this is possible since there are commands called "Custom POI" in Basecamp but I cannot find through help or any other means instruction on how to do this.

I want to take a csv file from POI factory. Lets say this file has all the campgrounds in the U.S.
I then want to import those POIs into Basecamp so that the POIs, or in this case campgrounds, show up during a Basecamp POI Search for the area shown in the Basecamp map.

I've given you one simple way of using custom POIs with BaseCamp.

The other way is to create gpx files and import those into BaseCamp.
