I have a new Garmin 660LM, Garmin Express 4.1.28.0 and Basecamp V4.62 running on Win10 64bit.
Initially , Everything was working. Windows saw the 660 when connected and Garmin Express opened and said it was connected to the 660. Once through with Basecamp, I would close Basecamp and Express. Then using Windows ” Safe to Remove” I’d disconnect. This procedure worked well repeatedly.
Then it didn’t.
I would connect the 660 and get a system beep and then the 660 would actually turn on as if not connected to the USB. No response from Windows. I would disconnect the USB from the 660 and shut the unit down. Then I would reconnect the USB to the 660. Windows would respond that “there was a problem with the Garmin F drive do you want to fix it?”. Then, in a few seconds it would come back with acknowledging the 660 and open Garmin Express. Basecamp would see the 660. Everything behaved normal. When closing, I’d exit Basecamp and Express. Then using Windows ” Safe to Remove” I’d disconnect. Windows would say its safe to disconnect. I’d disconnect the 660 but Windows would respond that I hadn’t closed down properly.
I started to problem solve by checking for Windows driver updates, they are current.
I started to follow Windows “there is a problem/do you want to fix it?” message and responded yes and was taken to “scan the drive” then Windows wants to “repair the drive”.
At this point, I’m afraid to proceed.
Any recommendations?
Thanks
Jeff
