Nuvi 2569 waypoint custom map gpx issues

Hi folks

Hope this is the correct place to post this. Apologies if this has been covered before but limited bandwidth here precludes a proper search...

I recently bought a couple of year old Nuvi 2569 hoping that it’s Trip Planner function would enable me to program / input gpx custom routes. Basically I put together a route in one of several programs & need the Garmin to navigate me via that set route to each waypoint in turn. I’ve tried Basecamp, Tyre, Mapyx, Google maps & Quo to try & input these files with differing results. Mostly the unit doesn’t recognise the route at all but the waypoints occasionally pop up on the screen anyway. I can extract the routes from the unit through the proper method in Basecamp et al, so it appears to load & retrieve for instance, I can load new vehicles and voices & perform software updates but still no custom route! I'm not even sure if my Trip Planner version accepts this sort of input

Any clues?
  • I can't speak for all those programs but properly constituted routes sent from BaseCamp will appear in the Trip Planner app on your nuvi as unscheduled trips. Note your nuvi can only have 30 waypoints per route.

That's the snag SUSSAMB, they don't. The nuvi coughs, says something like 'trip corrupt', or says no trips planned & that's it. The gpx data is in the nuvi gpx folder but remains unuseable...

My Garmin Nuvi 56 seemed to import "Stop" and "Via" points from Delorme Apps up to the Delorme 100 point limited gpx file exports satisfactorily by breaking and limiting the routes into 29/30 point sequences.

However the Garmin device might still recalculate the route differently than the original app did between any two consecutive points of these 100 points .

Note that if "Points" are selected in the Delorme export, every vector intersection coordinate which changes direction in neighborhood streets will result in an additional shape point in the Garmin 56 device.

Then something is wrong with the file you're using. Try creating the route in BaseCamp.
