I don't get it, my Nuvi 55 worked flawlessly for about a year. I just did a new route in Basecamp, loaded it to the gps, and it sent me completely off course in 2 different spots. If you look at the "map" view, it's the route I planned. But the directions are a whole different animal. Any suggestions?
Perhaps Sussamb is referring to the Nuvi 55/56 Setting Avoidances that only appear during Routing. By touching the three bar icon in the lower right corner with a route in progress, it is possible to select "Detour by Road (name)" after selecting the "Change Route" Icon.
However, in the USA the default U-Turn feature calling for an undesired left turn would still be my prime suspect for passenger or driver panic.
Suggest that you set Navigation>>Toll Roads to "Always Ask" on the Nuvi 55/56 for locations such as rural West Virginia or Pennsylvania. Then decline to use the Toll Road upon arrival. Otherwise the routing may not work in a reasonable manner.
