I use a Garmin 64s on my Polaris Ranger SxS. I use basecamp on my computer at home and download tracks turning to routes etc.

I want to be able to take a computer or tablet with me on my adventures so I can stop and look at basecamp and plug in my 64s. Make route adjustment etc.

Any suggestion on a tablet, or would I be better just to pick up a laptop and a pelican case?

There are plenty of tablets out there running Win 10 or Win 8.1, all of them will work with BaseCamp. Just be sure they have a USB outlet.....hard to believe any tablet would not.
I have been using an ASUS T100 Transformer for three years now and it fits this usage perfectly, in spite of the small screen. I ended up getting a Bluetooth Mouse because the touchpad was not real great. Testing the touchpad for fine cursor control and proper left right button response would be my most important criterion. I also use it for internet and email when on the road.....no more lugging a laptop around on trips....I can even fit it in my motorcycle kit.

It only has 32 Gigs internal and a 32 Gig SD card but that is plenty for all my music and all my maps. Naturally I would get a 64 Gig now, less money than a 32 three years ago. I wanted a keyboard for typing waypoint names and emails, so I got a transformer, thus the caveat about a touchpad.
