Use measure tool

I've looked around and don't see any way to get the measure tool to use a mouse function to follow a path. Mouse clicks to create straight lines sure but life on the road, or trails or bodies of water are NOT straight lines. Am I missing something simple, or does BC not allow a path follow measure like Google Earth does?

If you know where it is please tell me. thanks.

I am using BC 4.6.2 with a US Topo Map, 62S GPSMap...

GE Follow a path?

There's a way to have GE follow a path or road? I'm unaware of this. I use the measure tool frequently in both GE Pro and BaseCamp. BaseCamp works exactly the same as the measure tool does in GE Pro using the Path option.
