Stuck on square one using Search in BC

I just cannot get started with BC for route planning.
For example: 5401 32nd Ave NW, Gig Harbor, WA
This is a commercial office building which my GPS dash unit can find.
But when typed into BaseCamp, it can't be found.
I've updated both the GPS and BC to current maps and software.
What am I doing wrong?

Well you need to help us help you :)

How are you trying to find the address in BC? If you can find it on your GPS then BC will find it.

Which map are you using? Just confirm it's 2017.20?

I had no issue finding it on that map.

Thank you for the response.
City Navigator North America NT 2017.2 (installed) : this shows under the menu Maps on BaseCamp on my laptop
2017.2 is also installed on the nuvi GPs

Great, but you didn't say how you're trying to find the address?

However, try this:

Ctrl + Alt + A (this brings up the address box)

Enter the number (5401)
City (Gig Harbor, as you type it will appear to be selected)
Then in street enter 32 and choose the correct one from the drop down list

Hit the search button and the address will appear at the top of the drop down list

Scratch that. It worked. Not sure why, but it performed okay after a while. ???
