Hello - is there a suggested beginner guide. Between tracks, waypoints, adventures, routes, etc... can't picture the order and designed purpose for each. Also, loaded data from a Garmin GPS and have ~ 200 days of "active logs" that were downloaded to my pc. Used them to create a few trips I took, but should they be adventures, routes, do I convert them to 1 listing, and do i delete the activity logs or keep them. etc... Searched for a good beginners guide to basecamp and have not found it. thanks

My sport of motorcycle touring. I'm looking at 2 key tasks. First to capture past rides and turn them into maps I can use again. Also, to plan future rides.

thanks

I never delete any of my old active logs from BaseCamp. I also allow my GPS to maintain as much ride history as it can do automatically. If the rides were interesting then in BaseCamp I will duplicate the active logs, combine them as necessary to make a single track of the trip and then rename it as appropriate. Normally I do not convert them to Routes until I am ready to reuse them because Routes sometimes change across different map versions while tracks do not.

Should your active logs become Adventures? Entirely up to you. If you believe others may enjoy riding them and you are both willing to share and do the additional work which might be required then by all means have a go at publishing them onto the Garmin Adventure servers. You can do that at any time so there is no need to rush into it.
